Battery Removal 1999 Dodge intrepid

Hi all:-) , I'm new to the site. I've recently run into a bit of a headache, in removing the air-filter housing from my '99 Dodge Intrepid! Yeah, I know that the Air-Filter housing must be removed in order to access the top of the battery. And that to pull the battery out, you must access the removal panel in the front right wheel well. However, I've done everything from removing the fastener at the air cleaner, the housing from the body of the vehicle, to the intake snokel. After pulling and pulling and putting my 250lbs+:-( , frame into getting the housing out of the car, I was unsuccessful. :'(

Any words of wisdom out there? Besides going to the nearest car dealership and forking over a ton of cash, that I can otherwise use in filling the tank of my car!B-)

Thanks,

Blckrhno

Im trying to visualize this and the only thing that I can think of is that there may be a bolt or two actually in the filter housing that may be under the filter. I swapped batteries on a 2000 intrepid and it was a pain they just dont give you enough room.... it should come out pretty easy if not it is either still bolted in (somewhere) or there may be a wire holding it in from the mass air sensor. my best advice is to stay calm and be methodical it is a lot easier to fix if we don't break 10 things to fix one....

Good luck I wish we could add pictures

Thanks for the feed back. Yeah this is a major "Must fix now"! From what I could see, there's allot of corrosion and or a possible crack. So I need to get this thing out of my car and see whats going on! Better to do it now, than in the middle of vacation.

Thanks again!
